Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-05-31. These terms govern use of the CartShield AI Shopify app (the "Service") provided by CartShield Labs.
This is a draft template. Replace with finalized counsel-reviewed copy before Shopify App Store submission.
1. Acceptance
By installing the Service you accept these terms on behalf of your Shopify store.
2. Service description
The Service captures cart-abandonment events from storefront visitors, scores them for fraud risk, and sends recovery emails. Features available to a store depend on the active billing plan.
3. Plans and billing
Subscription fees are charged through Shopify's Billing API. Free plan limits are listed in the embedded app's Billing page. Upgrades take effect immediately. Cancellation prorates per Shopify policy.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to: send unsolicited bulk email through the Service; misrepresent the source of emails; attempt to reverse-engineer or interfere with the Service; or use the Service to violate any applicable law (including CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and CCPA).
5. Customer data
You are the data controller for end-customer data captured through the Service. You warrant that you have a lawful basis to send marketing communications to email addresses captured via the widget.
6. Service availability
We aim for high availability but do not warrant uninterrupted service. Recovery emails are best-effort; the Service is not a transactional system of record.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability is capped at the fees paid by you in the preceding three months. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
8. Termination
Either party may terminate by uninstalling the app or notifying the other in writing. Upon uninstall we cease processing and honour Shopify's GDPR redaction webhooks.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction TBD] and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
